Denver is the capital and the most populous city of Colorado State. It is a consolidated city-county situated near the Rocky Mountains on the high plains. Its downtown district is present between Cherry Creek and South Platter River. This Mile-High City is located a mile above the sea level.
When the city was found in the year 1858, it was just a collection of buildings on the riverbanks. But, now it has 29 recreation centers and more than 200 parks ranging from mini parks to giant 314 acre City Park for recreation and relaxation of residents.
Cherry Creek State Park is a state park, which is present in Arapahoe County. It has an 880 acre reservoir and natural prairie environment. The reservoir is used by powerboats, sailboats etc. It has got clubs like Yacht and Cherry Creek Marina, which offer various events on the shore. A large amount of sand is imported to form a swim beach. The park consists of 12 miles of paved roads and trails of 35 miles which are used for different purposes.
Cherry Creek Trail is an urban oasis that extends ten miles from heart of Denver downtown to Cherry Creek Reservoir. This flat concrete path is used for raiding bikes, walking etc. It is connected to all Denver trails. The park has got various facilities for camping, picnicking, bird watching, fishing, outdoor shooting range etc. There are more than 40 mammal species like coyote, beaver, raccoon etc. that roam in the park. This is the best place for the families to enjoy the nature.
