Colorado State Capitol
The main centre of attraction of the Colorado State Capitol is the stunning history and architectural features the building holds in its premises. The observation deck which precisely stands one mile above sea level offers spectacular views of Denver, the Rocky Mountains and the surrounding plains. You can explore the vast history of Colorado by scanning through the murals on the first floor of this building.
The Colorado State Capitol houses the Colorado legislative and the offices of the Colorado Governor in Denver. This building was constructed in the 1890's and now is a part of Denver's Civic Center area. The exterior of this building is made from white granite and the dome is made from plates of real gold.
The interior of the Colorado State Capitol Building is made from Colorado Rose Onyx. This is a rare marble found near Beulah, Colorado. The floors in this building are exclusively designed in White Yule Marble. Many of the marbles have also been embedded with the faces of George Washington and Molly Brown. The amount of marble used in the construction of this building nearly consumed the entire supply of marble.
Another feature of this building is that most of the windows are stained glass which depicts people or events related to the Colorado history. The halls are adorned with the portraits of every United States President. The magnificent decor and structure of the building makes it an ideal tourist attraction.
Guided tours are provided by professional Denver travel guide and there is no charge for admissions. Visitors can also get to see the House and the Senate Chambers. The Capitol Hill district, the Colorado State Capitol Building is higher than the rest of downtown Denver. This a great place to get familiar with the roots of one's country.
