Parks are an integral part of any great city and Denver no doubt is a great one. Parks are like the lungs of the city and they keep the atmosphere clean for the residents. Denver because of its terrestrial location is naturally suited for park development and we have compiled a list of well-known parks in Denver area.
First and foremost is the City Park. It is an urban park and is spread over 330 acres or almost 1.3 sq km. It is located in east central Denver and is home to the Denver zoo, Ferril and Duck Lakes, Denver museum of Nature and Science and last but not the least a boathouse. The name also refers to the neighborhood in which the park resides. To the immediate north of the park is the famous City Park Golf course.
The largest and the most notable park of the city is a huge hit with locals. You will find many families over the weekend and many couples during the weekdays passing time in this beautiful place. The zoo is opened everyday of the year for Denver travel tourists; just the hours vary from season to season.
Washington Park is also another famous park of Denver which is spread over 160 acres and contains a lake, flower gardens, playgrounds, tennis courts, recreation centers, soccer fields etc. It is surrounded by 19th century homes and is a place to hang out in spring and early autumn. Besides the normal parks, Waterworld one of the largest family water parks in the USA is situated in Denver. Six flags Elitch Gardens is another amusement Park in Denver.
Besides having fabulous parks, Denver is an excellent sports touring destination. It is skiing destination in winters and outdoor games/sports festival destination in summers. Martin Luther king parade, Denver Restaurant Week, Colorado Colfax marathon, Denver's Navy week are some other fun filled festivals in Denver.
