Detailed Info about the Naming Rights Controversy on Denver Invesco Field at Mile High
The City and County of Denver is the capital and the most populous city of the U.S. state of Colorado. Denver is nicknamed the "Mile-High City" because its raise is one mile, or 5,280 feet (1,609 m) above sea level. The city has the tenth-largest central business district in the United States by population.
One of the most controversial and recognized place in Denver is the Invesco Field at Mile High. Invesco Field at Mile High is used primarily for football games. It is the home field for Denver's National Football League team, the Denver Broncos. But it has been well-known for the Naming Rights controversy. The old stadium, used for years, was called Mile High Stadium.
The Invesco Funds bought the naming rights for the new one for 20 years, so it will be called Invesco Field at Mile High but the Denver post refused and was adamant on calling it as The Mile High Stadium. On the contrary, the Rocky Mountain News wanted it to be called as the Invesco Field at Mile High. Henceforth, there have been several conflicting perspectives regarding this claim.
The Rocky Mountain News wanted it to be called as Invesco Field just because they reported the news and Invesco Field happens to be the name of the place. But the Post refused and claimed it to be Mile High because it revealed patriotism in the people. However, there has been no conclusion to this confliction and the people still recognize it as Mile High Stadium no matter what it has been named officially or on paper.
