Denver Colorado Railroad Museum: Displaying a Variety of Collection of Narrow Gauge Rolling Stock

Located 12 miles west of downtown Denver is the Colorado Railroad Museum, which is one of the must-see attractions of the area. The role of railroads in the history of the region since the 19th century can be explored at this museum. The collection of 3 feet narrow gauge rolling stock is indeed the highlight of this tourist attraction. It is one of the museums in the country that exhibits the collection of narrow gauge rolling stock. The Steam Up Days are hosted by the museum to offer narrow gauge train rides to the visitors.

A number of narrow standard locomotives and rail cars of historic importance are put on display by the museum. Besides, the museum has a collection of thousands of old photographs and artifacts that reflect more than 125 years old railroad history of the region. The exhibition hall in the museum exhibits many traveling and seasonal displays. There is a Robert W. Richardson Library that accommodates over 10,000 books of railroads.

Other attractions at the museum include the Roundhouse, a museum bookstore and a museum gift shop. One can find postcards, t-shirts, mugs, jewelry, railroad plaques and railroad videos at the gift shop.

The museum opens every day from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. However, it remains closed on Christmas, New Year and Thanksgiving Day. On the first Thursday of every month, the museum closes at 9:00 pm. The fares are $8 for adults, $ 5 if you are below 18 and free for infants. The HO Club from Denver offers a mini-representation of Colorado's Railroad history on the first Thursday of every month. Tour hosts are also available at the venue to answer the queries of the museum visitors.

The timing of the museum is-9 am to 5pm. During summers the museum is open till 6pm.
