A Great Intro to Coors Field Denver: The First New Stadium Built in the National League
Coors Field in Denver after its completion in 1995 became the home field of the Colorado Rockies of Major League Basketball. Located in Lower Downtown, Coors Field consists of 63 luxury suites and accommodates 4,526 club seats. One of the greatest aspects of this newly built stadium is its accessibility. It is located near the Interstate 25 and is just two blocks away from the Union Station.
Interestingly, Coors Field was designed to accommodate 43,800 seats. However, the first season of the Rockies at their former home field Mile High Stadium was attended by over 4.5 million people, the highest number ever in the history of baseball. As a result, the capacity of Coors Field was increased accordingly.
Dinger was selected as the mascot of the Rockies after dinosaur fossils were discovered by the workers during the construction of the field. It was the first major league park designed with an underground heating system. The field has most of its seats in dark green, except the purple ones in the upper deck's 20th row that mark the one mile elevation point of the city.
A microbrewery cum restaurant called Blue Moon is among the main features of Coors Field. A landscape decoration behind the center field represents the Rocky Mountains. It is also the highest of all the major league home fields in the country.
The field has paid parking and offers full facilities for the people with disabilities. There are guided tours to the field organized on the non-game days as well. To attend an event at Coors Field, you can learn the schedule and purchase tickets online.
