Museum Of Contemporary Art
MCA Denver is a platform of modern day art, and an inspiration and challenge to all art lovers. MCA Denver promotes and encourages a better understanding of contemporary vision translated into art.
MCA Denver was founded in 1996 as the first museum of contemporary art in the city. Till recently its fortunes were dictated by the able guidance of Cydney Payton who has left the post last October.
Adam Lerner now takes over as the new director entrusted with leading MCA Denver to even greater heights. Adam is blessed with a wealth of knowledge, a leaning towards collaboration and a plethora of innovative ideas. One of the first assignments on his plate is the merging of the Laboratory of Art and Ideas at Belmar with MCA. The two boards will also amalgamate. Lerner himself was the founder of the Lab in 2006 and had been its executive director since then.
Lerner comes with a wealth of experience having been master teacher at the Denver Art Museum in contemporary and modern art. He had taken his Masters degree from Cambridge University and received a Doctorate from John Hopkins.
The merger of the two establishments, while engaging the community, will further enhance the city of Denver's reputation as a creative center of culture and art.
MCA Denver has under its roof five disparate art galleries and several sites for specially commissioned projects and works. It also houses a live lecture hall and three areas of learning for Denver travel visitors. The rotational sequence policy governing the galleries ensures something new on view for the art aficionado at every visit.
MCA Denver's mission is the dissemination of contemporary thinking on culture and art providing a theatre for exchange of productive views and ideas. It prides itself on being an open museum and a venue for public participation.
