Breckenridge Firehouse Museum

The Breckenridge Firehouse Museum is houses inside one of the heritage buildings. This museum boasts for a collection of several firefighting artifacts and these artifacts are as old as late 1800s. Since some of the walls of the museum have been left in their original shape. Therefore, they depict the construction method. The red, white and blue fire department was first established in the year 1976.

The displays related to equipments and the uniforms from the earliest days are displayed as a part of this museum. There is a ladder cart and a hose cart also present in this museum. The exact location of the Breckenridge firehouse museum is 308 North Main Street and it is located in the core of the quaint mountain town. The largest exhibit in this museum is housed by the entry floor. There is a long cart also present in the museum. This cart is 30-foot long and it is bright red in color. There is another exhibit also present in the museum. This exhibit features 2 acid extinguishers. There are 2 axes, kerosene torch and 5 kerosene lanterns also present in this museum.

The museum also has one more exhibit. This exhibit is a restored hose cart and as the wheels of this cart turn, the bell rings. A wire stoke litter is also present. In this litter, these bodies were strapped prior to their setting on the wooden backboards. These were used to transport in carts or trucks. There are several other displays that are also present such as uniforms, extinguishers, belts, nozzles, etc. There is a canvas stretcher also present in the upstairs of the museum.
